Lillian Sarnelli Broussard

She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Scott DesOrmeaux officiating the services.
Lillian Sarnelli Broussard was an Italian from Brooklyn, NY. She married Alvin Broussard in 1956, after two children, Alvin convinced her to move to his native Louisiana in 1959. She was soon blessed with a third child. Lillian learned to love and appreciate Abbeville and the slow pace of southern living. Being the extravert that she was, she soon became involved with a new project known as the Headstart Program. She was loved by the children and fellow teachers. She later preferred a life of leisure and coffee, getting together with family and friends. She was loved dearly by the people she met and accepted them as her family. Her “Bigger than life” persona will be missed by friends and family.
She is survived by one daughter, Kim Broussard of Abbeville; one son, James Broussard of Abbeville; spiritual son, David Mouton of Abbeville; one granddaughter, Mandy Broussard of Abbeville; two great granddaughters, Allie Clostio and Alissa Broussard; one brother, Victor Sarnelli, Jr. of Brooklyn, NY; and three sisters, Jenny Scaglione of Sherwood, CA, Nettie Johnson of Long Island, NY and Tessie Giordono of Long Island, NY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Broussard; one son, Glenn Broussard; and parents, Victor Sarnelli, Sr. and the former Angelina Cosoco.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
