James “Snap” Norman Choate

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 24, 2006 at a 1:30 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Church honoring the life of James "Snap" Norman Choate, 76, who died November 21, 2006 at his residence. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. He was a member of the American Legion Post #29 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3793. He was a board menber of Abbeville General Hospital. He was a current member of the Vermilion Parish Drainage Board. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Earline Dartez Choate; three sons, Brent Choate and his wife Beatriz of Houston, Texas, Brian Choate and his wife Kathy of Abbeville and Bradley Choate and his wife Robin of Folson; five grandchildren, Corey Choate, Rylan Choate, Ashley Choate, Breanne Choate and Brittney Choate; and three great grandchildren, Addison Soileau, Drake Soileau and Ivy Choate; two sisters, Eula Lene of Abbeville and Eunice Gastal of Mouton Cove. He was preceded in death by his parents, Opha Joseph Choate and the former Mary Hebert; two brothers, Lawrence Choate and Opha J. Choate, Jr.; and one sister, Joann Broussard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Thursday, November 23rd from 10:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a rosarv to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday, November 24th from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
