Alfred Joseph Hebert

July 11, 1920 — November 6, 2010

Abbeville— Mr. Alfred J. Hebert, 90, died on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Abbeville General Hospital. He was born in Abbeville, LA, on July 11, 1920 to Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Amanda Hebert.

He attended Abbeville Elementary School and graduated from Abbeville High School. He was also a graduate of S.L.I. with a degree in Business Administration. While attending S.L.I. he was president of the Newman Club. He went on to attend L.S.U. where he obtained a masters degree in Business Administration.

Alfred was a veteran of WWII for four years where he served in England.

After his tour of duty he was employed by Esso Oil Co. He worked at Grand Isle, LA, Bay Minette, AL, and New Orleans, LA, until his retirement in 1992.

Survivors include his sisters, Marguerite Broussard, Evelyn LeBlanc and Helen Pearson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Ainsworth Hebert; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Amanda Hebert; and his siblings, Henry S. Hebert, Jr. of Wyandotte, MI, Albertine Sims of Lafayette, LA, Alice Gordon of Houma, LA, Robert Hebert of Abbeville, LA Yvonne DeGrauw of Abbeville and Charles Hebert of Baton Rouge, LA.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. William Blanda officiating the services. Interment will take place at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery at a later time.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until time of services.
