Edgar "Shorty" Ray Theall
September 7, 1923 — November 11, 2010
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Deacon Randy Hyde officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Louis Peltier, Seth Broussard, Kyi Lormand, Tyrone Theall, Mike Meaux and Steven Theall, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be K.J. Brasseaux, Bryan Broussard, Bryan Theall, Skyler Richard and Benny Boher.
Mr. Theall was a veteran who served our country during World War II in Burma. "Shorty" and his wife owned and operated many restaurants in Abbeville and Crowley, as well as owning and training many race horses throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Peltier Theall of Erath; two sons, Bryan Theall of Louisville, KY and Tyrone Theall of Mandeville, LA; three daughters, Susan Theall Lormand of Mandeville, LA, Katheryn Theall Broussard and her husband, Bryan of Abbeville and Marilyn Theall of Erath; eleven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Emery Theall and the former Clarice "Coochie" Amy; one brother, Jack Emery Theall; one sister, Wanda "Sister" Touchet; three sons, Edgar Ray "Eddie" Theall, Jr., Steven Wayne Theall and Darrell James Theall; infant great grandchild, Mikaya Lynn Richard; and son-in-law, Donnie Lormand.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, November 12, 2010 from 3:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, November 13, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
The family would like to thank Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Lourdes Stroke Unit and Heart of Hospice.
