LAFAYETTE- Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 25, 2006 at a 10:30 a.m.. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Magdalen Church honoring the life of Francis C. Palombo, Sr., 73, who died November 22, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Rev. Msgr. Glen Provost officiating the services.
Pallbearers will be Frank Palombo, Tony Palombo, J. Wayne Hebert, Nolan Granger, Woody LeBlanc and
Kermit Sonnier. Honorary pallbearers will be Sabra Smith, Ary Lauren Palombo, Trey Palombo, Kaylee Palombo,
Ashley Palombo, Boyd Yocum, Ricky Brassette, Ken Hawkins, Bruce Mayo, Jeff Hargroder and Fred Malzahn.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy who served our country during the Korean Conflict. He was attached to the First Marine Division serving as a hospital Corpsman. Francis was a retired banker with Iberia Bank of Lafayette then later returned to the same bank as a consultant.
He is survived by his wife Helen Vice Palombo of Lafayette; two sons, Francis "Frank" C. Palombo and his wife
Aleesha of Mobile, Alabama and Carlos "Tony" Anthony Palombo and his wife Karen of Cedar Park, Texas; Grandchildren, Sabra Smith of Baton Rouge, Ary Lauren Palombo of Navarre, Florida, Francis "Trey" C. Palombo, III of Navarre, Florida,Kaylee Palombo of Cedar Park, Texas and Ashley Palombo of Cedar Park, Texas; one brother, Perry Palombo of Erath; two sisters, Zula Palombo Duhon of Abbeville and Mary Ann Hunt of Indiana; and mother of Trey and Ary Lauren Palombo, Ary Habig.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovelace Palombo and the former Olita Denais; one brother, Raywood Palombo and two sisters, Delta Mouton and Bernice Gary.
The family wishes to thank Paul M. Toce, Jr., MD, Vernon A. Valentino, MD, Patrick Welch, MD, W. Dwayne Brown, MD, Jeffery J. Thibodeaux, MD, James J. Trahan, MD, Carolyn Guilbeau, MD, Lafayette V.A. Clinic, the Staff on 4 Central for the great care and kindness and all Iberia Bank Tower employees on Congress.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville,
Friday, November 24th from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, November 25th from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
