Abbeville—Funeral services will be held Monday, November 22, 2010 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Barbara Gastal Russo Steen, 74, who died Friday, November 19, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

She will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Father Scott DesOrmeaux officiating the services.

She is survived by her husband, James Steen of Abbeville; two step daughters, Kathi Comeaux and husband Blane of Abbeville and Dr. Vicki Steen and husband Dr. Charles Schof of Mandeville; four step sons, Micheal Russo and wife Edith of Abbeville, Joey Russo and wife Sue of Lafayette, Richard Russo of Abbeville and Carlos Russo and wife Suzette of Lafayette; two brothers, James "Jimmy" Wright and wife Wanda of Lafayette and Danny Gastal and wife Jenny of Abbeville; and twenty step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Curtis Gastal; mother, Lillian Abshire Mergist; a step daughter, Karen Place; step son, Peter Russo; and a niece, April Winner.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, November 21, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Monday, November 22, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
