ABBEVILLE - Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church in Esther honoring the life of Pauline Alicia Blanchet Miller, 85, who died Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Abbeville General Hospital.
She will be laid to rest at St. James Cemetery in Esther with Father Emmanuel Fernandez officiating the services.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Falcon and her husband Sam of Abbeville; her son John Miller, Sr. of Abbeville; three grandchildren, John Miller, Jr. of Abbeville, Marie Miller of New Orleans and James Miller m of New Orleans; her daughter-in-law Fern Miller Dvorak of New Orleans and her husband Chris Dvorak and their son Paul.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Benjamin Miller, Sr.; her son James Benjamin Miller, Jr.; father, Otis Blanchet, Sr.; mother, Mabel Stauffer Blanchet; sister, Betty Zaiontz; and two brothers, Edward Blanchet and Otis Blanchet, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Sam Falcon, John Miller, Sr., John Miller, Jr., Benjamin Blanchet, Joshua Segrest, and Dan Falcon. Honorary pallbearers will be Vernon Miller and Francis Miller.
Mrs. Miller was secretary at Seventh Ward Elementary School for 25 years. Prior to her employment with the Vermilion Parish School Board, Mrs. Miller did volunteer work at Seventh Ward where she served as PTA President for 12 years.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Lay Carmelite Community of St. James Catholic Church in Esther and a member of the St. Anne Altar Society. She also received the Devoted Service Award from the Catholic Diocese of Lafayette. Mrs. Miller served as Director of Religious Education at St. James in Esther where she taught catechism for 35 years.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 St. Charles Street, on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 8:00 a.m. and will continue until the time of the service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Dorothy Turner for her lovin2 care and devotion that she has given to their mother.
