Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at Vincent Funeral Home in Abbeville, honoring the life of W.W. “Bill” Lovell, age 78, who died at his residence following a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nona Landry Lovell; three daughters, Claire and husband, Elbert Repp of Abbeville, Leslie and husband, Mark Brightwell of Carthage, Texas and Amy Lovell of Abbeville; one brother, Gilbert and wife, Dale Lovell of Griffin, GA and one sister, Audrey Lovell of Anaheim, CA; six grandchildren, Christy and husband, William Kessler, Rene’ Repp, Rebecca Repp , Matthew Repp, Sam Brightwell and wife, Rebecca, and Ben Brightwell; two great-grandchildren, William Kessler and Elizabeth Kessler; four nieces, Janey Wilcox, Laura Lovell, Eleanor Brueggen, and Pamela Parks and three nephews, Christopher Parks, John Parks and Paul Parks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.Wallace Lovell and Rosita Bourque Lovell and two grandchildren, Samantha Repp and Charles Repp.

Bill was a devoted husband, father and friend. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from ULL (actually SLI) in 1951 with a degree in Industrial Arts Education. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Serra Club of Lafayette. He retired from UNOCAL after 33 years, working in Houma and Lafayette. Bill enjoyed his family, his friends and his yard; his grandchildren still enjoy his grapes and oranges. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Tuesday, December 5th from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday, December 6th from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Acadiana, the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy at www.psp.org or to the St Mary Magdalen Parish Capital Campaign Fund.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care and Acadian Homecare for their services. The family is most grateful to Beatrice, Marilyn, Link and Jackie for their devoted care.
