Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa Catholic Church honoring the life of Lt. Colonel Dowell B. Hudson, who died Friday, December 22, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Mayne officiating the services. Colonel retired from the U.S. Army after a distinguished career having served in both WWII and the Korean War. He received two Silvers Stars and two Purple Hearts. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Irene Dore Hudson, Abbeville; two daughters, Donna Hudson Lege and her husband, Tommy, Erath; and Debra Hudson Rood and her husband, Charles, Youngsville; his grandchildren, Ty Lege, Drew Lege, Kayla Rood and Tricia Rood. Also surviving are three sisters, Freda Hudson, Whitehouse, TN; Lou Hudson Driver and her husband, Kenneth, Franklin, TN; and Dimple Hudson Sutton, and her husband, Doyle, Redboiling Springs, TN. He was preceeded in death by his father, Joe Edgar Hudson; mother, Virgie Knight Hudson and his brothers, Henry and Hal Hudson. Pall bearers will be grandsons, Ty and Drew Lege, two nephews, Bill Barkley and Kevin Driver and two great nephews, Shannon Jenkins and Shane Rippon. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles St., Abbeville, Tuesday December 26, 2006 from Noon until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
