Robert James Broussard, 63, passed away at home on Friday, December 22, 2006. He was born in Pecan Island, Louisiana, and traveled and lived many places throughout his life. He was a man of many ideas and steadfast dreams, following them to wherever they took him. He was a lover of music, and one of his favorite sounds was the music called the blues. He made friends wherever he went, and left memories of smiles and laughter whenever he left. In so many words, he lived for the moment. In recent years he moved back to his family in Abbeville, and spent his days cherishing their company. He is survived by his wife, the love of his life and his princess, Gemalyn Aga Broussard; his five children, Richard and his wife Jacky, Robin and her husband Martin, Lara and her husband James, Dona and her husband Sean, and Bobbie and her husband Michael John; grandchildren, Brooke, Christopher, Gabriel, Morgan, Cailey, Arran, Stella Rose, Collin, Joe, Jesse, and Dillan; sisters, Rowena, Sister Joan and Gail; brothers, John, Buster and Barney; the mother of his children, Helen Broussard; dear friend and nephew Sean Bengtson; and his loving family in the Philippines. He is preceded in death by his parents, Valin “Toupee” and Stella Broussard; and his mother-in-law, Theresita Aga. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles St., Abbeville, Thursday, December 28, 2006 from 4 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
