Velta Melancon Babineaux

ABBEVILLE- Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Abbeville honoring the life of Velta Melancon Babineaux, 69, who died January 14, 2007 at Lafayette General Hospital. Reverend Noah Langley, Reverend Pres Riley and Reverend John Yanez will officiate the services. She will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery She is survived by one son, Ronald Baineaux and his wife Brenda of Abbeville; three daughters, Cheryl Babineaux of Erath, Linda Benoit and her husband Ronald of Abbeville and Tammy Derouen and her husband Raymond of Abbeville; one brother, Bud Melancon of Oklahoma; seven sisters, Wilda Gary of Abbeville, Rosalie "Pap" Vincent of Abbeville, Melba Adams of Vinton, Joyce McClellan of Lafayette, Lois Campisi of Abbeville, Geraldine Frederick of Abbeville and Genell Melancon of Lafayette; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Roland Babineaux; parents, Lionel and Effie Broussard Melancon; one brother, Sonny Melancon; one sister, Hazel Griffin; and one grandson, Ronald Babineaux, Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville, Monday, January 15th from 10:00 a.m. and will remain open until time of services on Tuesday.
