Elise Simon Romero

Kaplan— It is with heavy hearts we share the news of our mother’s passing, Elise Simon Romero. Elise was a loving mom and grandmother who loved with her whole heart. She had passion for playing card games and whether it was family or friends she was always looking for her next opponent. She also loved Jesus and attending Mass at church. If she knew you, then surely she has cooked for you because that was one of her many ways she showed love.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Elise Simon Romero, 88, who died Saturday, October 14, 2023. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Reverend Stephen Sahayaraj Irudayasamy officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Kelly Romero, Kirk Romero, Benji Duhon, Brady Duhon, Brock Romero and Brandon Suire.

She is survived by her children, Phyllis Romero and her husband, Alvin of Kaplan, Gerald Romero and his wife, Karen of Kaplan and Mona Frey and her husband, Kim of Mowata; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; her sister, Beverly Trahan, Houston, TX; and her sister-in-law, Eula Mae 'Bee' Simon of Forked Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eraste Romero; her parents, Cestia Simon and the former Agnes Bourque; three brothers, Raoul, Pierre 'Blanc' and Roy Simon; and two sisters, Enola Simon and Viola Duhon.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM; Monday, October 16, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the services at 2:00 PM.
