A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. honoring the life of Leona Romero Meaux, 81, of Abbeville, LA who died January 21, 2007 at her residence surrounded by her family. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend William Blanda officiating. Mrs. Meaux was born on July 23, 1925, in Abbeville, LA. Together with her husband they owned Meaux’s Sausage Kitchen. Mrs. Meaux is survived by her brother Ix and wife Beverly Romero of Abbeville, four children, Merline and husband Jimmy Delahoussaye of Beaumont, TX, Betty and husband Randy Meaux of New Iberia, Anna Marie Cessac of Abbeville, and Lester Thomas and wife Cherly Meaux of Abbeville; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Greg Hunteman of Austin, TX, Regina and husband Robert Baldwin of Beaumont, TX, Michelle Meaux-Longaker and husband Mark of Austin, TX, Claudia and husband David Shriner of Fort Lewis, WA, Mandy Meaux of Philadelphia, PA, Lance Meaux of New Iberia, LA, Thomas Paul (Eve) Cessac of Delcambre, Logan Cessac of Abbeville, Jimmy Sandridge of Baton Rouge, and Jessica Sandridge of Abbeville; great grandchildren, Emily, Lauren and Ethan Hunteman, and Rosalind Meaux all of Austin, TX, Brittini and Lindsie Bourque and Kourtney Baldwin all of Beaumont, TX, Destin Meaux of Fort Lewis, WA, Gabriel, Zoe, John Paul, Alyssa and Gage Michael Cessac and Kirsten Lee Sandridge all of Abbeville, LA, her Aunt Amy Trahan and sister-in-law Lena Abshire and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.. Mrs. Meaux was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Thomas Meaux who died December 21, 2006; her parents Remy and Leonida Maturin Romero; grandchildren Angella and Angelique Cessac and great grandchild Faith Cessac. Pallbearers will be Thomas Paul Cessac, Logan Cessac, Lance Meaux, Jimmy Sandridge, and Spring Humble. A special thanks to Beverly Romero, Eve Cessac, Laurie Hebert, Barbara Istre, Laura Mae Herpin, Deanna Broussard, Patricia Suire, Spring Humble, Judy Bergeron, Charmaine Romero, Jane Lemaire, Acadian Homecare and Hospice of Acadiana. The family request that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home of Abbeville, Wednesday, January 24, 2007, from 8 am till 10 pm with a rosary at 7 pm, reopen Thursday, January 25, 2007, from 8 am till 10 pm with a rosary at 7 pm, and reopen Friday, January 26 2007, from 8 am till services.
