Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring
the life of Opal Judith Hebert Ronsonet, 80. She will be laid to rest at Hebert Cemetery.
On Thursday morning, March 1, 2007, Opal Judith Hebert Ronsonet was called home by God Our Father after a fire in
her home in Hampton, Virginia.
Known to family as "Popoo", Opal was born January 20, 1926, to Isadore and Judith Landry Hebert. She was the fifth
child of nine to her family in Abbeville, Louisiana.
Moving to Virginia, later in her life, she raised three sons as a single parent when her husband passed; and began her
career in the Civil Service at entry level and worked her way up to the position of Contracting Officer. She retired
there after thirty years. After retirement, she built a home in Abbeville and spent time with family and friends in both
Louisiana and Virginia.
She was a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Hampton, and Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in
Abbeville. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be
remembered in our hearts among the roses in her garden and will be missed as she takes her place before our Father in
Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brothers; Wilfred Hebert, Edvar Hebert, Irene "Tye" Hebert
Broussard, Allison "Bub" Hebert, Alice "T-Bib" Hebert Motley, and Joan "Jo" Hebert Eubank. Her son Rickey James
Ronsonet, also passed away from the same fire, one day after his mother.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, two of her three sons: Roger Paul Ronsonet, and Wade Allen Ronsonet. She
also leaves Sister Judith Hebert O. Carmel (sister), Donald Hebert (brother), Barbara Ronsonet (daughter-in-law),
Shaun Ronsonet (grandson) and his wife Tiffany Ronsonet, Christina Judith Ronsonet (granddaughter), and J'air Elijah
Ronsonet (great grandson), Abigail Elizabeth Ronsonet (great granddaughter), and Audrey Marie Ronsonet (great
granddaughter).
The family would like to recognize and thank the doctors and nurses in the bum unit at Sentara Norfolk General
Hospital for their caring hands and hearts through the family's difficult parting with Opal. They allowed her last
moments in this world to be surrounded by her family member in love.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home, 209 South St. Charles, Abbeville,
Monday, March 5th from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday, March 6th from
