Adella "Bella" Simon Racca

Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Adella Simon Racca, 89, who died Friday, May 21, 2021 at her residence.
She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Hebert, Collus Roche, Kaleb Hebert, Jessie Fabre, and Kenneth Neveaux.

Adella Racca was a licensed practical nurse for 42 years. She was a very compassionate and caring nurse at the Nexion Nursing Facility in Kaplan, LA. After retirement, she continued to serve her community, helping with glucose and blood pressure monitoring at a local bank. She also enjoyed delivering food to the elderly at their residence.

Adella being a very active member in the community was the secretary of the Indian Bayou Volunteer Fire Department for 27 years and the American Legion Auxiliary for 28 years. She belonged to Our Lady of Perpetual Help’s Ladies Altar Society and was named Woman of the Year in 1989. In her spare time she loved gardening, fishing in her earlier years, bingo with her friends, and above all cooking and spending time with her family, which she said was her greatest accomplishment.

Bella was an amazingly kind and giving woman always putting others before herself and kept a loving and positive attitude about life. She prayed daily for others and had a strong Catholic faith and a very close relationship to God.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharlene R. Roche and Jan Trahan of Kaplan; one sister, Gertie S. Fabre; grandchildren, Jill Hebert of Iowa, Collus Roche of Youngsville and Lauren Hebert of Kaplan; great grandchildren, Sage McManus, Kaleb Hebert, Liam and Isla Roche, Carter Hebert, Lakyn Hebert and her daughter, Reese and Zachariah Hebert; one great-great grandchild, Colt Boudreaux; 10 nephews; and five nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alcide Simon and the former Laura Landry, her husband, Wilton Joseph Racca; two brothers, Vernice Simon and her twin brother, Joseph Paul Simon; one sister, Beulah S. Duhon; granddaughters, Sharri Beth Roche and Mia Katherine Trahan.

The family wishes that masks be worn during the services.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana and also a special heartfelt thank you to her nurse, Whitney Credeur for her loving care of our beautiful Bella.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 600 N. Church Avenue, on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 10:00 AM until the services 1:30 PM with a rosary being prayed at 11:30 AM.
