Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church honoring the life of Albert J. Sonnier Sr., 71, who died Monday, April 1, 2024 at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. will be laid to rest at Mire Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.
Albert was a person of many passions and interests. He enjoyed the simple pleasure of spending his evenings wrapped up in a classic western movie or in a good wrestling match. He also loved Jeff Dunham, finding endless joy in the comedian’s performances, often sharing hearty laughs with loved ones.
In quieter moments, he loved the satisfying challenge of putting together puzzles. He would spend hours meticulously piecing together each one. He also enjoyed listening to music, and always had the radio playing. Albert was a true Cajun man, and nothing fulfilled his hunger more than pork rinds and boudin. He also had a weakness for chocolate.
His family will forever treasure all the things that made up his lively spirit, and his presence will be sorely missed. Albert is survived by two daughters, Danna Sonnier of Kaplan, and Olivia Sonnier of Kaplan; one grandson, Spencer-Allen Sonnier; and his former wife, Stephanie A. Sonnier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Sonnier and the former Louisa Broussard; his two children, Albert J. Sonnier, Jr., and Joleen Sonnier; and his two sisters, Brenda Sonnier and Linda Schexnaider.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for church at 10:45 AM with a rosary being prayed at 9:30 AM.
