Alton "Tan" J. Abshire

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Alton J. “Tan” Abshire, 87, who passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023 at his residence.  He will be laid to rest at Abshire Cemetery with Deacon Bryan Istre officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Derek Abshire, Travis Abshire, Ethan Lowery, Johnny LeBouef, Willie Lowery and Ryan Duson LeBlanc.  Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Mire and Kevin Abshire.

He is survived by his ex-spouse, Eula M. Rung of Kaplan; his son, Seth Abshire of Kaplan; his two daughters, Sheran LeBouef of Kaplan and Kay Lowery of Kaplan; his two sons-in-law, Johnny LeBouef of Kaplan and Willie Lowery of Kaplan; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Martin Abshire of Kaplan; his six grandchildren, Roslyn A. LeBlanc, Travis J. Abshire, Derek J. Abshire, Shelia L. Mire, Ethan K. Lowery and Leah S. Lowery; his 11 great grandchildren, Savannah LeBeouef, Shaylynn Mire, Shyleigh Mire, Carson Abshire, Gracie Abshire, Cole Creduer, Blake Creduer, Ainzley Abshire, Austin Abshire, Dawson LeBlanc and Paityn Martin; and his two sisters, Ruby Abshire Harrington of Kaplan and Hilda Leger of Carencro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clodis Abshire and the former Olita Simon; one daughter, Debra Ann Abshire; one brother, Vernis Joseph Abshire; and two sisters, Alice Foreman and Camelia Mire.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the time of the services at 12:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 10:00 AM.
