Kaplan—Funeral services officiated by Reverend Wayne Landry will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Alton “Waumpee” Perro, Sr., 59, who died Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Maison De Lafayette with his family by his bedside.
Alton worked in construction for majority of his life and poured plenty of concrete for many businesses and homes we see today. He loved to have a good time and blessed everyone with his infectious laugh. He gained the nickname “Angry Waump” because of his abrasive approach, but he always had a method to his madness and knowledge or a lesson to give. He had an extremely deep love for fishing and was willing to bring anyone along on the boat and equip you with a fishing pole.
He is survived by his wife, Verna Perro; his mother, Hester Francis; his daughter, Angel Roy; his stepdaughter, Candace Roy, two sons, Alton Perro, Jr. and Iyan Gaspard; his stepson, Corey Roy; six grandchildren, Heaven Roy, Hailey Amos, Collin Rubin, Cameron Rubin, Caleb Roy and Hannah Dupre; two great grandchildren, Cayson Amos and Caisean Anthony; his siblings, Nettie Mitchell, Rodney Perro, Sr., Jaqueline Perro, Alvin Perro and Anthony Perro; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Perro, Jr.; stepfather, Alexander Francis; and his grandparents, Warris Levine, Louise Petry, Nettie Perro and Joseph Perro, Sr.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the services at 1:00 PM.
