Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, January 13, 2025 at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan honoring the life of Alwood Francis "Shorty" Langlinais, 84, who passed away on January 8, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family.
The visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until the services at 2:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Sunday. He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher "CJ" Langlinais, Jr., Paul "PJ" LeBlanc, Jr., Seth Broussard, Mark Langlinais, Jr., Barbara Langlinais, Blake Schexnaider, and Logan Langlinais. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Langlinais, Sr. and Christopher Langlinais, Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Earline Webre Langlinais of Meaux; three children, Celia Langlinais and her companion, Ricky Pommier of Meaux, Mark Langlinais and his wife, Barbara of Meaux, and Christopher "Chris" Langlinais and his companion, Sherrie Menard of Nunez; nine grandchildren, Paul "PJ" LeBlanc, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer of Kaplan, Mark Langlinais, Jr. of Meaux, Nicholas Giordiano and his wife, Kristen of Madisonville, MaryBeth Langlinais and her companion, Douglas Ferris of Kaplan, Molli Schexnaider and her husband, Blake of Kaplan, Christopher "CJ" Langlinais, Jr. and his wife, Hannah of Kaplan, Seth Broussard and his wife, Chasity of Meaux, and Lauren Dowis and her husband, Scotty of Lawrenceville, GA; five step grandchildren, Maisie Racca of Opelousas, Chalisse Romero and her fiance, Jared Bruchhaus of Morse, Brittany Dugas and her husband, Karol of Loureville, Cody Racca and his wife, Dawn of Meaux, and Dominique "Dom" Racca of Meaux; and 22 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jody Langlinais; two grandchildren, Miranda Angelle, Charles Dean Langlinais; one great granddaughter, Elaine Langlinais; one step granddaughter, Valerie Jane Lovell; his father, Andre Langlinais; his mother, Ophelia Suire; one brother, Joseph Langlinais; one sister, Azelie Touchet; and numerous half brothers and half sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lamm Hospice for their care and compassion, especially his aid, Charlene Guidry; his nurses, Ashley, Katina, Patty, and Marissa; social worker, Amber; and chaplain, Heather.
