Amma Elizabeth "Betty" Webb

September 2, 1935 — July 10, 2018

Amma Elizabeth “Betty” Webb, long-time resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, died July 10 th after a lengthy period of declining health.

Betty was born September 2, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to Amma Houston Webb and Winchell Clifford Webb. The family later moved to Jackson, Mississippi, where she attended schools before graduating from the University of Mississippi with a B.A. degree. Betty was a member of Tri Delta sorority at Ole Miss and was named Campus Beauty.

Throughout her life, she cherished her family and home more than anything else. She was a marvelous cook, a gifted decorator, and her yard was a testament to her creative gardening design and skills when it received an award from the Lafayette Garden Club. She had a love for literature and was an avid reader. She was an ardent New Orleans Saints fan, LSU Tigers supporter, and was proud of her Southern heritage.

Everything Betty touched turned beautiful whether it was a flower arrangement on the table, the placement of furniture and accessories, or the selection of art on the walls. She had an eye for color and a sense of style all her own.

She was brought up in the Methodist Church and held to her strong Christian faith. Her major blessings were her two sons and their families, her sisters, and her friends in Lafayette as well as in Jackson. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her sons, Barrett Greer Jr. and his wife, Jan of Lafayette, Louisiana and Clay Greer and his wife, Lisa of Chesapeake, Virginia; her grandsons, Barrett Greer III, Clayton Greer and Jackson Greer; and her sisters, Dot Gregory and husband, George of Birmingham, Alabama and Katherine Heidinger and her husband, Neil of Winter Harbor, Maine.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to all of the physicians, nurses and staff at Lafayette General Medical Center, The Carpenter House, St. Joseph Hospice, and Lady of the Oaks for their compassionate care of Betty.

She will be buried alongside her parents in Jackson, Mississippi. Graveside services officiated by Minister John Evans will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Cemetery.
