Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 12, 2023 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Andrus Joseph Roche, 76, who died Monday, May 8, 2023 at Calcutta House. He will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be John Blanchard, Zachary Blanchard, Joel Roche, Jeremiah Broussard, Pat Richard and Kade Breaux. Parker Broussard, Dean Blunt and Jude Blanchard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Andrus was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He loved the oilfield life, dedicating more than 50 years of service. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a passion for woodworking and mechanics, fixing everything he could. He also loved cutting his lawn and tending to his plants and flowers. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine Guidry Roche of Gueydan; his son, David Roche and his wife, Regina of Sulphur; two daughters, Sheryl and her husband, John Blanchard of Gueydan and Brandi and her husband, Jeremiah Broussard of Kaplan; seven grandchildren, Shana and her husband, Del Blunt of Esterwood, Joel Roche (Kiley) of Lake Arthur, Taylor Blanchard (Kade) of Erath, Zachary Blanchard and his wife, Madeline of Gueydan, Miah Broussard, Madie Broussard, and Parker Broussard all of Kaplan; seven great grandchildren, Dean, Lyla, Nova, Jude, Avery, Rynleigh and one on the way; three sisters, Theresa and her husband, Allen Richard, Marilyn Roche and Dorothy and her husband, Kade Babineaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladu Roche and the former Edith LeBlanc; two brothers, John and Ophey Roche; Della Guillot, Una Guidry, Shirley Abshire, Lena Boudreaux and Eula Mae Breaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Friday, May 12, 2023 from 8:00 AM until 10:40 AM when the procession departs for the church.
The family would like thank Hospice of Acadiana and the Calcutta House for their kindness and compassion given in his final days.
