Abbeville—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday April 5, 2024, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Annabell Marie Hebert, 91, who died on April 1, 2024, at Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana. Her grandson, Reverend Matthew Hebert will officiate the services. She will be laid to rest at Hebert Cemetery on Sweetbay Road in Abbeville, LA. Pallbearers for the funeral are Nicholas Hebert, Jacque Hebert, Anthony Hebert, Damian Hebert, Raymond John Hebert, and Jacob Hebert.
Annabell was born April 17, 1932. She was the youngest child of Gladue and Noemi Prejean of Leroy, Louisiana and moved to Abbeville as a teenager where she graduated from Abbeville High School.
As a young adult, she worked in the rectory of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church where her faith increased and a devotion to the Blessed Mother began, a devotion she maintained her whole life and drew her closer to Christ. A relationship that was at the heart of a life well lived in piety and prayer. Her next venture was as a telephone operator in the Abbeville office. Through a mutual friend she met, fell in love with and married the love of her life Raymond Joseph Hebert.
Annabell was a loving spouse, parent, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. A virtuous Christian woman who touched the lives of many and was a shining light to all she encountered.
She is survived by her four sons, Stephen Hebert (Denise) of Maurice, Paul Hebert (Denise) of Abbeville, John Hebert (Drusilla) of Lafayette, and Deacon Joseph Hebert (Angella) of Maurice; two daughters, Mary Comeaux (Randy) of Maurice, and Miriam Broussard (James) of Abbeville; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hebert; daughter, Elizabeth Hebert; son, Luke Hebert; granddaughters, Tricia Meyers and Gabrielle Conner; parents, Gladue Prejean and the former Noemi Vincent; brother, Whitney Prejean; and sister, Wilda Broussard.
Visitation will be observed at Vincent Funeral Home at 209 S. Saint Charles Street, Abbeville, on Thursday April 4, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Friday, April 5, 2024 from 8:00 AM until 9:45 AM when the procession will depart for the church.
Her family would like to extend profound thanks to the staff on the 3rd floor at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, and to the Calcutta House for their heartfelt care.
