Born August 13, 1934 in Gueydan, Anna Lee spent her life embracing the things she loved most. As a devoted fan of LSU, particularly baseball, she found joy in attending games for over 25 years, cheering on her team with unwavering passion and loyalty. Her love for the sport brought her countless memorable moments and lifelong friendships.
Beyond her love for sports, she had a green thumb and a passion for gardening. She took great pride in cultivating her garden and maintaining a well-manicured lawn, finding joy in the beauty of the vibrant colors of blooming flowers. Her love of flowers extended beyond her backyard, as she assisted Jenny at the Gift Box, where she shared her love of flowers with many.
Anna Lee was renowned for her baking skills, particularly her "plate-sized" biscuits, fig preserves, and carrot soufflé. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and hospitality, where family and friends gathered to share in delicious meals and cherished memories. Despite baking being her forte, Anna Lee was always ready to feed anyone who came to her table, whether it was a cozy family dinner at home or a larger gathering at The Camp. Her ability to effortlessly whip up delicious meals, even at a moment's notice, was a true testament to her skill and generosity in the kitchen.
Throughout her life, Anna Lee was the epitome of grace, strength, and generosity. As the wife of the mayor, she supported her husband wholeheartedly, effortlessly managing the demands of hosting and entertaining with grace and hospitality. Her ability to seamlessly navigate any situation and make everyone feel welcome was a gift that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
But perhaps Anna Lee's greatest gift was her innate ability to care for others. She was a natural caregiver who lovingly looked after everyone she loved with unwavering dedication and compassion. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she provided comfort and support to all who needed it.
She will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. In line with her favorite team’s mascot, she will forever be remembered as a true "tiger" at heart, fiercely loyal and always ready to cheer on those she loved.
