Anne Cormier

Abbeville - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Anne “Tante Ten” Cormier, 102, who died Friday, February 18, 2022, with her two surviving children by her side.  Deacon Frank Cormier will be officiating the services.  She will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Maurice, La.  Pallbearers will be Richard Benoit, Brody Vincent, Christopher Cortese, Cory Hebert, Steve Landry, and Chad Pippens.

Anne Cormier was born to Francois “Frank” Cormier and Salvina Trahan Cormier on July 26, 1919 in Milton, La.  She was called home on February 18, 2022 at 12 noon at Cornerstone at the Ranch, where she had been a resident since September 7, 2021.

Anne was an accomplished seamstress having sewed for Earl’s Babyland for over 50 years.  She loved crocheting, playing bingo, dancing and gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne Benoit Perkins of Lafayette, her son Richard W. Benoit of Abbeville, sister Irene C. Decou of Opelousas and a brother John Exie Cormier of Abbeville.  Grandchildren Sherri V. Falgout (Michael) of Lafayette, Steven Scott Vincent (Robert Guidry) of Carencro, Leslie R. Vincent of Lafayette, Alicia Benoit (Josh Corey) of Santa Cruz, CA., Kasey Pippens (Chad) of Baton Rouge. Eight great grandchildren, Jennifer F. Cortese (Christopher), Steve “Bubba” Landry, Austin Brody Vincent (Shannon), Cory John Hebert (Brooke), Raylan Pippens, Oaklynn Pippens, Aurelia Anne Benoit-Corey and Blaise Benoit-Corey. Three great-great grandchildren, Olivia Lynn Cortese, Christopher Michael “Mikey” Cortese, III, and Emelia Rose Vincent, with two more due in May. Daughter-in-law Brenda Benoit of Rayne, and sister-in-law Dulse Cormier of Abbeville and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence “Beb” Benoit, her son John Bernie Benoit, and infant daughter Jessie Jane Benoit, granddaughter Linde Sloan Benoit, her parents, five brothers Asa Cormier, Willie Cormier, Alex Cormier, Curley Cormier, and Thomas Cormier, all of Abbeville.  Four sisters Edmay Cormier, Jeanne C. Landry, Hortense St. Marie, Elva Mae “TeMae” Hernandez of Lafayette.

Special thanks to Dr. Libby Going of Lafayette, Hospice of Acadiana, especially Laurie, who was so comforting and caring, the staff at Cornerstone at the Ranch, especially Bernadine, who took such loving care of her.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM until time of service with a rosary being prayed at 11:30 AM.
