Barry James Bertrand

Abbeville- A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Community Chapel Church, 614 Laporte Street, Abbeville honoring the life of Barry James Bertrand, 62, who died Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at his residence. Pastor Jason Duhon will officate the service.

Barry will be most remembered for his ability to light up a room, his happy-go-lucky and fun loving self.  He was one of a kind and never met a stranger.  He was a devoted, caring family man and a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.  Barry had a heart of gold and a strong faith in God.    Barry was a proud veteran of the United States Navy who served his country with honor.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Mary Thibodeaux Bertrand; one son, Beau Bertrand and his wife, Brandy of Maurice; three grandchildren, Brooks Bertrand, Griffin Bertrand and Kaiden Bertrand; three brothers, Michael Bertrand of Meaux, Wayne Bertrand and his wife, Melissa of Meaux, and Brad Bertrand and his wife, Shelina of Alabama; and two sisters, Kimberly Bertrand of Meaux and Paulette Bella and her husband, Jim of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Bertrand, Jr. and the former Judith Ann Vale.
