The oldest of eight siblings, born to Boniface “Black” Lege and Amelian Gaspard. Mr. Lege was a life-long residence of Forked Island, LA. He owned and operated B.J.’s Dragline Service and worked in the oilfield construction for over 48 years. He served as Constable for Ward 6 for 29 years. A devoted Catholic he was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree at St. Anne Catholic Church. He was an avid hunter, loved to go to his camp, that was his second home for the winter months. He answered to many names, but the one he was most proud of was “Paw-Paw”. It didn’t matter where he went, “Bub” never met a stranger. It was a true privilege to call him Dad, how blessed I was to have loved and been loved by him.
He is survived by his daughter, Donna Choate and her husband, Tommy of Lafayette; his sister, Joyce Gaspard and her husband, Nelton of Kaplan; his two brothers, Pervis Lege and his wife, Dorothy of Nunez and Harry Lege and his wife, Opal Gayle of Mouton Cove; his four grandchildren, Shannon Burns and her husband, Timothy of Lafayette, Brady Gaspard and his wife, Cheri of Newton, TX, Haley Choate of Leroy and Mindy Choate of Houston, TX; and his nine great grandchildren, Chelsea, Gavin, Lelia and Landon Burns, Kaleigh, Makalah, De’Cember and Riley Gaspard and Lane Dupuis.
