Calvin Williams

ABBEVILLE, LA - Calvin "CW" Williams, 71 died Wednesday morning, January 22, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. 

 Calvin "CW" Williams was born on August 24, 1953, to the union of Lawrence and Lillian C. Williams, Sr., of Abbeville, LA. He was one of eleven children born to this union. Calvin graduated from Abbeville High in 1973. After graduation, he became the third child of the Williams family to enter military service as a soldier in the United States Navy for four years. In 1980, he started working offshore with Texaco as an oilfield mechanic, retiring in 2002 with twenty-two years of service. 

Calvin was a member of St. Mary's Congregational Church where he also received Christ. Calvin, like his brother Lawrence loved to bless others with his "down-home" cooking and baking. He would make fruit cobblers and bread from scratch and barbeque for families during times of loss of a loved one. He loved cooking just as much as fishing. The fishpond was his second home and catching sacalait was his specialty. During football season you could catch him watching his favorite team on Sundays, entertaining family, and friends. Being with family and friends meant the world to him, and he loved every minute spending time with us. Calvin had a big heart and was a charitable giver. He gave generously to those in need and charities within the community. 

Calvin is survived by his campion, Ms. Sandrus M. Harrison; his five children, Keiffer Williams (Abbeville, LA), Amber Williams (Youngsville, LA), Kevin Williams (Duson, LA), Jer'Ondrus Williams (Abbeville, LA) and 2nd Class Petty Officer Cal'Niayh H. Williams (San Diego, CA); seven sisters, Juanita Evans, Gloria Briggs, Linda (Melvin, Sr.) Cockrell, Lillian Ann Williams, Laura (Roland, Sr.) Boutte, Lesia Williams all of Abbeville, LA., and Gilda Gregoire (New Iberia, LA.); two brothers, Michael (Felicia) Williams, Sr., and Johnny Andrews all of Abbeville, LA; six grandchildren, Amelia, Kaleigh, Kaden, Keiffer Jr., Abigail, and Brooklyn. He leaves to cherish a host of family and friends. 

He was preceded in death in by his parents, Lawrence and Lillian C. Williams, Sr.; one sister, Betty Williams; four brothers, George Williams, Lawrence Williams, Jr., Eddie Hills, Jr., and Joseph Andrews; niece, Phoebe Williams; nephews, Curren Joseph, Wilfred Sereal, Jr., Roderick Briggs, and Torlin Williams. 

On Saturday, February 1, 2025, a celebration of Calvin's life will be held at New Life Church of Abbeville located at 1109 N. Lafitte Rd, in Abbeville, LA. The service will be officiated by Pastor Wayne Landry of Shiloh Baptist Church, Kaplan, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Service will begin at 11:00 AM, with interment immediately following at St. Paul Cemetery.
