Christie’s politeness, her love to talk, and her love for life guaranteed that everyone she met became her friend. To know her, was to love her. Starting at a very young age, and throughout her life, Christie faced many trials and challenges; however, she was blessed to possess both the strength of her mother and the resilience of her father, which ensured that she made the most out of every single day that God gave her. Even through her difficulties, she was so full of life and love. Christie’s soul was kind, beautiful and loving, making her an inspiration to everyone around her. She had a beautiful smile that she wore daily, and that will continue to shine on forever in the thoughts of those who love her. The sound of her laugh will live on in the memories of all who knew her.

Christie had a love for the color purple and also rosaries, which she had an impressive stash of that she kept close to her at her bedside. She possessed a deep love for good Cajun cuisine, her favorite plates coming from the kitchen of her Mom or her Granny. Christie also loved snacks of any kind, and was really good at sneaking them between the meals she enjoyed so much. She was never found without her puzzle books or her iPad close by. She loved to play games of any kind, but her favorites were sequence or dominoes while spending time with her family. Christie loved many things, but perhaps her favorite of all was giving her Daddy orders, which he followed, on a daily basis.

Christie attended St. Peter School and later, Gueydan High School, where she completed her education. While in school, she enjoyed participating in all the school activities that she could. One of Christie’s most cherished memories was when she was crowned Prom Queen during her Senior Prom. The joy and excitement she felt in that moment could be seen by all present.

Christie loved to spend her days surrounded by her family and friends. She adored her nieces and nephews as well as her young cousins, who she loved to care for as much as she could. Christie enjoyed the quality time she spent with her parents and her sister, as they cared for her daily. She also cherished time spent with her good friend, Ms. Esther Broussard, when her family was working.

She is survived by her loving and devoted parents, Robert and Sheryl Broussard, her brothers, Casey Broussard and Ryan (Ginny) Broussard and her sister, Paige Broussard. She is also survived by her nieces that she loved deeply, Lillie and Kaisyn Broussard (Casey) and her nephews, Cord and Colt Broussard (Ryan and Ginny); her paternal grandmother, Shirley Broussard; her aunt, Carol (Steven) Plaisance; her maternal grandmother, Cene Mae Zaunbrecher; her aunt, Susan (Duane) Hardy; her uncle, Wendell "Buddy" Zaunbrecher, her uncle, Gerald (Jesseca) Zaunbrecher; and her Godfather, John Zaunbrecher; her “Fake Nanny”, Phyllis Zaunbrecher; well as her many cousins.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Wilfred Broussard, Jr.; maternal grandfather, Floyd Zaunbrecher; and her Godmother/Aunt Charlotte Detraz (late wife of Sonny Detraz).

The Family would like to send their gratitude to all of the employees of Ochsner Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital Emergency Department and the doctor and nurses there that were able to administer her initial care. We also want to thank Ochsner Lafayette General Trauma ICU and the doctor and nurses for their great care and compassion for Christie and the family during her time of need, specifically Dr. Defransech and   ICU Nurses: Chelsea, Caitlyn, Ann, and Megan.

Carrying Christie to her resting place as pallbearers are Wendell “Buddy” Zaunbrecher, Gerald Zaunbrecher, John Zaunbrecher (Godfather), Duane Hardy, Luke “Sonny” Detraz, and Jerrod Broussard.
