Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Christina Sue Simon, 57, who passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Hebert Cemetery with Reverend Stephen Irudayasamy officiating the services.
Christina Sue Simon was a beloved mother, “Nana,” sister, aunt, co-worker and friend who passed away at her home on Wednesday December 7, 2022. She was surrounded by love and care in the final months of her life.
She was born on February 5, 1965 to Marilyn and LJ Simon. She was the youngest of three children, who were raised in Mulvey, Louisiana. She attended school in Kaplan and had a very good childhood and kept in touch with many school friends over the years.
Christina was the mother of two children, Angel and Kelly, whom she loved with all her heart. As much as she loved being a mom, she loved even more being “Nana” to her eight beautiful grandchildren. She enjoyed having sleepovers at “Nana's” with movies, snacks and swimming in her pool. She was famous with all the grandkids for her delicious spaghetti and rice dressing.
She was also a beloved nanny and aunt to her godchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved babysitting in her teenage years. Known as Nanny or Aunt Chris, she loved all of them very much.
Christina was a long time employee of State Farm Insurance Agency. She loved her job, gladly assisted local customers for over 20 years. She had a passion for assisting elderly customers and helping them attain the best coverage for their needs.
Christina will be missed by all who knew her. She was a very quiet, but strong woman. She would help anyone in need and had a beautiful giving heart of compassion.
She is survived by by her son, Kelly his wife, Lydanna and their two sons, Wyatt and Luke; her daughter, Angel her husband, Scotty and their children, Lily, Drake, Samuel, Anna Lee, Lucy and Isaac; her sister, Cheryl (Steve) Duhon; her brother, Ricky Simon; numerous nieces and nephews; and her godchildren, Derek, Jesse, Jeremy and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marilyn and LJ Simon; and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 9:00 AM until the services at 1:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 10:30 AM
