Clifford John Schexnayder

Abbeville—Private services were held honoring the life of Clifford John Schexnayder, 89, who died Monday, July 29, 2024 at Eastridge Nursing Center.

Clifford was a horse trainer and rider who earned him the title "horse whisperer” he had an extraordinary ability to communicate with them.  He could cut a rug like nobody’s business, especially if a lively jitterbug song was playing.

Clifford is survived by his daughter, Sheila Schexnayder Suire and her husband, Robert of Erath; son, Ricky J. Schexnayder of Maurice; six grandchildren, Drew Suire and his wife Jessie, Tabethia Suire and her wife Belle, Raven David and her husband Daniel, Robin Schexnayder, Megan Ward and her husband Jason, and Lance Richard; seven great grandchildren, Randi Suire, Camille Suire, Alley David, Graysen David, Bailey Ward, Kameron Ward, and Dillan Richard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Peltier Schexnayder; daughter, Judy Schexnayder Atchison; daughter-in-law, Rachel Suire Schexnayder; parents, Ignace Schexnayder and the former Alcidie Sellers; and siblings, Alcide Schexnayder, Algy Schexnayder, and Earldine Viator.
