Clomerine Duhon Stelly

Abbeville—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Clomerine Duhon Stelly, 90, who died Saturday, August 24, 2024 at her daughter's home, surrounded by her loving family. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery with Fr. Glenn Meaux officiating the services. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Marcus Stelly, Dustin Stelly, Barrett Stelly, Mitchell Hulin, Martin Hulin, Mason Georgia, and Matthew Georgia. Lectors for Mass will be Emma Stelly and Mason Georgia.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 9:30 AM until the procession departs at 1:45 PM with a rosary being prayed at 11:00 AM.

Clomerine Stelly, born on August 22, 1934, in Abbeville, was the cherished daughter of Lenes Duhon and Gladys Abshire Duhon. She was an only child, but her life was enriched by the deep bonds she shared with her many cousins, who were as close as siblings to her. Clomerine graduated from Meaux High School, where she built the foundation for a life filled with love and dedication to those around her.

In 1955, Clomerine married Clifford Stelly, beginning a beautiful partnership that would define her life. A devout Catholic, she found immense joy and purpose in her faith, attending Mass daily and serving as a dedicated member of the Catholic Daughters.

Clomerine was known for her incredible cooking, always eager to share a meal with family and friends. However, her greatest love was reserved for her children and grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. For over 60 years, she worked as a beloved hairdresser in Abbeville, touching the lives of countless clients who became like family. Clomerine’s warm heart and nurturing spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Clifford Stelly; her son, Todd Stelly and his wife, Donna of Abbeville; her daughter, Trisha Stelly Georgia and her husband, Jody of Maurice; her 7 grandsons, Marcus Stelly (Brook) of Maurice, Dustin Stelly of Kaplan, Barrett Stelly of Abbeville, Mitchell Hulin (Emily) of Maurice, Martin Hulin of Maurice, Mason Georgia of Maurice, and Matthew Georgia of Maurice; and her step-grandchildren, Ashton Simon of Youngsville, Ahnie Simon Wiggins (Jacob) of Youngsville, and Trevor Georgia (Resha) of Kaplan; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lenes Duhon and Gladys Abshire Duhon.
