Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September  5, 2023 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Clyde Paul Reese, Jr., 73, who died Friday, September 1, 2023 at his residence after a battle with colon cancer. Clyde was a graduate of Gueydan High School, class of 1968. Raised as the son of a rice, cattle, soybeans, crawfish and vegetable farmer, he spent 42 years in the fertile fields of Vermilion Parish contributing to the operation of the family farm. He spent 52 years as a guide for Lulu’s Hunting Club and Doug’s Hunting Lodge, where his friends became family. In later years, Clyde also enjoyed deer hunting in the Alabama woods. His work career ended with his supervisory position with the Gueydan Drainage District in the Gueydan area, a job he treasured.

Clyde’s friends will always remember lively weekends spent water skiing on the Mermentau River and his expertise on a slalom ski, his love for Otis Redding’s music, and his devotion to his lovely bride, children, and grandchildren. His family cherished his life of the party antics when Bon Jovi’s “Living on a Prayer” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” popped up during a wedding reception or family party. He made sure everyone joined the sing-along with whole-hearted effort. His nieces and nephews enjoyed the rollicking teasing and fun when Great Pana was around. He will not soon be forgotten.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna LeMaire Reese of Gueydan, LA; his two daughters, Maegan Reese Pistorius (Clay) of Kenner, LA and Simone Reese (Logan Cavin) of Gueydan, LA; his five grandchildren, Molly and August Pistorius and Addison, Charlotte and Walker Cavin; his loving nieces and godchildren, Kayla Woods Langlinais, Kristi Woods Gaspard and K’Rees Woods Broussard; and his brother-in-law, Logan Woods.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde, Sr. and Lorena Reese; and his sister, Karen Reese Woods.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Monday, September 4, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed by the Gueydan Knights of Columbus at 7:00 PM; Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 9:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 1:45 PM.
