David Lee Leblanc

June 18, 1949 — November 27, 2019

Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of David Lee LeBlanc, 70, who died Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette.  He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.

David was born to Murphy “Black” LeBlanc and Elizabeth “Tootsie” LeBlanc in Abbeville, LA on June 18, 1949.  He married Sara Ann LeBlanc (Mathiew), and together they raised three sons (Marcus, Jason and Jonathan), one daughter (Emily) and were blessed with five grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and Winston.

He served in the United States Army, in the 593d Engineering Company, from July 1969 to January 1972, and was a member of the VFW.  After serving his country, “Dave”, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, began a career as an automotive technician for General Motors. He retired as an ASE Certified Master Technician after 45 years. He had a passion for working outdoors, which ultimately led him to realize his dream of becoming a crawfish farmer upon his retirement.

The above are just facts and statistics, I was fortunate to know my father for four decades.  He lived life in the truest sense of the word. Everyday had something positive in it, no matter how bad it seemed. His patience was extraordinary, as a father myself, it amazed me to watch him with my children, and the calmness he expressed.  Family was first for him, I cannot count the number of sacrifices he made for us.  He did whatever he could to make a better life for us. Also, his mindfulness was something amazing to behold.  The ability he had to live in the moment, not think about the past or future too much, and focus on the present, was an achievement few have obtained.

He loved God, his family, his country AND his crawfish pond.

Saying he will be greatly missed is an understatement.
