Dudley Joseph Stevens

Kaplan—Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan honoring the life of Dudley Joseph Stevens, 78, who died Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at his home in Abbeville. He will be laid to rest at LeMaire Cemetery with Rev. William Schambough officiating the services.

Dudley dedicated over 40 years of his life to his craft as a mechanic, and his passion for muscle cars was well known. He cherished the simple pleasures in life, including hunting and grilling with his family. These moments, often filled with laughter and stories, were the highlight of his weekends. An avid skeet shooter, he found joy in shooting skeet at the back of his property with family and friends. His memory will be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Kathy Dailey of Kaplan; one daughter, Lori A. Stevens and her husband Alvin McNabb of Conroe, Texas; and one son, Jim and his wife Lauren of Baton Rouge; one sister, Joyce Foreman of Abbeville; one brother, Howard Stevens of Kaplan; and four grandchildren, Ross LaPoint and Isabella, Maxwell, Elijah, and Benjamin Stevens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Stevens and the former Elzedia Hebert Stevens; and one brother, Robert Lee Stevens.

Visiting hours will be observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Monday, May 27, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the services begin at 3:00 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM.
