Dudlie Ann Thibodeaux Lemaire

August 27, 1972 — September 11, 2021

Abbeville— A memorial service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Dudlie Ann Thibodeaux LeMaire, a lifelong resident of Erath, aged 49, passed away surrounded by family on September 11, 2021 due to complications from Covid-19.

Dudlie was born in Erath on August 27, 1972 to Flordury and Clemile Thibodeaux, Jr.  She graduated from Abbeville High in 1990.  Dudlie went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from the University of LA with a specialty in Elementary Education.

Dudlie had a passion for people with disabilities serving as a special education teacher, caretaker, work supervisor, and Special Olympics coach in her younger days.

Dudlie was very proud of her girls, Emma and Evan.  She never missed a school function, sporting event, or a band concert.  Dudlie was a very supportive and non-judgmental person, referred to as “Mama Dud” by her children’s friends.

She was an avid fan of Nickelback and a member of their fan club.  She loved music and was always eager to attend rock concerts.  Dudlie adored make up and had an extensive make up collection she did not mind sharing.   She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, scrap booking and crafts in general.  Dudlie was very generous and spent a lot of time creating homemade gifts and treats for holidays and special occasions.  She enjoyed movie nights and sleep overs with family.

Dudlie loved Halloween and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends with outlandish costumes.  Dudlie was the last to arrive at our annual family Halloween party making a grand entrance as we eagerly waited to see how she would be dressed.

One of the happiest events in her life was the birth of her first and only grandchild, Clay Allen whom she loved with all her heart.  She referred to herself as Clay’s Maw Naw.

Dudlie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, great aunt and a BFF to us.  Our lives will not be the same without her.  She will be missed in more ways than one.

Preceded in death by her father, Clemile Thibodeaux, Jr.; maternal grandparents, (and namesake) Dudley and Helen Frederick; paternal grandparents, Odelia and Clemile Thibodeaux, Sr.; her former husband and father of her children, Jeffery LeMaire, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters, Evan LeMaire (Cameron) and Emma LeMaire; grandson, Clay Allen; step-son Dustin LeMaire; mother and step-father, Flordury and Ray McDowell; sisters, Jodie Lown (Kenneth), and Francine Lavergne (Stephen); brother, Starsky Thibodeaux (Karen); nieces and nephews, Lindzie Hale (Daniel) and Godchild, Elizabeth Lown, Keller and Molly Thibodeaux; great niece, Lilly Hale; and great nephew, Luke Graffagnino.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Friday, September 17, 2021 from 9:00 AM until time of service.

The family would like to thank Dr. Frank Courmier, the ICU Nurses, and all medical staff who provided excellent care to Dudlie during her stay at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. We could not have asked for better care, compassion and professionalism.  We are forever grateful.  Special thanks to Betsy, Shannon and Diana.
