Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life Earl Darby, 81, who passed away on Saturday August 31, 2024, at Calcutta House in Lafayette, LA. He will be laid to rest at Nunez Cemetery in Nunez, LA with Reverend Scott McKenzie officiating the services. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Brett Darby, Dru Darby, Christian Darby, Seth Darby, Chad William Darby and Matthew Darby.

A devoted husband to his beloved wife Sarah for 60 years, and a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Earl's life was a testament to his deep faith and unwavering commitment to his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, who fondly remember his gentle guidance and boundless affection. Earl's steadfast faith and his profound love for Sarah were the cornerstones of his life, shaping his enduring legacy of kindness and devotion. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Sarah Best Darby, his sons, Chad E. Darby and his wife Deanna, Scott Darby, and Brett A. Darby and his wife Tobie. Also surviving are his siblings, Curtis Darby, Robert Darby and his wife Judy, and Roberta Darby Mire. His grandchildren Dru Darby and his wife Laura; Katie Darby, Corey Darby and his wife Taylor; Matthew Darby; Courtney Darby; Christian Darby and his wife Callynn, Seth Darby and his wife Shelby, Abby Darby, Kali Darby, Chad William Darby, his 8 great grandchildren Owen, Evan, Ellie, Kylah, Kalani, Vayda, Wesley and Jack.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lionel Darby and Ella Lege Darby, his siblings Raymond Darby, Thomas Darby, Hazel Darby Patterson, Doisey Darby, Joyce Darby Hebert, Goldie Darby Heard, Beverly Darby Meyers, Earline Darby Suire and Kenneth Darby.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 9:00 AM until time of services.
