Ellis J. Toups, Sr.

Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Ellis J. Toups, Sr., 89, who passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services.

Ellis was a life long resident of Gueydan, LA. He enjoyed taking his boys fishing in their younger years and later enjoyed with friends. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a Scoutmaster (Troup 89) for many years which had 24 Eagle Scouts.

He is survived by his three sons, Jake Toups of Monroe, LA, Michael Toups and his wife, Elizabeth of The Woodlands, TX, and Patrick Toups of Gueydan, LA; one sister, Theresa Elliot of Lockport, LA; seven grandchildren, Chad Toups, Erin Toups, Kyle Toups, Joseph Toups, James Toups, Nick Toups, and Jennifer Holliday; and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Z. Toups.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church.
