Ervis P Trahan

March 18, 1938 — October 21, 2021

Ervis grew up on a rice and cattle farm on the Louisiana prairie on the outskirts of Mulvey. He was a Boy Scout and a graduate of Kaplan High School, class of 1956. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1962 to 1964. Ervis graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He again served his country by working for the Department of the Army at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, testing and firing missiles for our national defense. In 1966 he transferred to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and worked for NASA as a quality assurance engineer. While at NASA he participated in the Apollo and Space Shuttle programs. He retired from NASA in 1986. After retirement he moved back to the family farm in Vermilion Parish where he resided for the remainder of his life.

He is survived by his sisters, Earline Conover, Nona Ancell, and Nell Hollar; and one brother, Ivan Trahan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Essieus and Ozia Broussard Trahan; and one brother, Julius Trahan.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 9:00 AM until the time of the services at 1:30 PM.
