Eulan Paul Richard

Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Eulan Paul Richard, 91, who died Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. He will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Brent Richard, Chad Broussard, Blake Campbell, Jeremy Richard, Jarod Richard, and Nicholas Richard. Teresa Richard and Natalie Istre will do the readings and singing will be Tiffany Ryder.

Eulan was a faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church. He worked at the Republic Rice Mill for many years. For seventeen years, he and his wife, Ruby owned and operated Richard’s Grocery and Feed Store in Gueydan. After retirement in his forties, he loved raising cows and planting a large garden. They both enjoyed dancing and met so many couples over the next 30 years. Card playing was also a weekly past time.

Our family would like to thank Reverend Corey Campeaux, Chaplin Mark Broussard, the entire staff of Gueydan Memorial Guest Home, and Lamm Family Care Hospice.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruby Cormier Richard of Gueydan; his six children, Glenn Richard (Teresa) of Gueydan, Darlene Broussard (Sheldon) of Gueydan, Christine Campbell (Rocky) of Gueydan, David Richard (Angela) of Gueydan, Steven Richard (Jackie) of Gueydan, and Carl Richard (Debbie) of Broussard; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Allen and Roland Richard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Zeodie and Amar Richard; one brother Querie Richard; two sisters, Anna Mae Abshire and Alva Jane Richard; two great grandchildren, Chloe and Caroline; and his great niece, Tiffany Broussard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 8:00 AM until 10:45 AM when the procession departs for the church.
