Tippy was a native of Abbeville, Louisiana. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1963. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy and served four years. Throughout his life, Tippy was an avid supporter of Mount Carmel. He volunteered at Hospice of Acadiana. He was always up to take a project on and loved tinkering with his gadgets.
Though he played an important role in the community, the role of father, grandfather, uncle, and godfather was closest to his heart. His examples of faith and family, joy and happiness, and truly being present in the moment with a smile that could light up the room, full of his love and pride for whomever he was with, and his great bear hugs that left the recipient feeling fully enveloped in his love will live on forever in the hearts of those that knew and loved him. He was always there to support his family and his grandchildren were dear to his heart.
He is survived by his wife Selina Broussard Guidry of Abbeville, whom he was married to for fifty four years and by his two children, Nicole Guidry, and her two children, Emile Chiasson and his wife Macy, and Olivia Chiasson; Claire Guidry Griffin and her husband Ian, and their two children, Laina Juneau and her husband David, and Jack Griffin. His sister Charlane Landry and her husband Brent and his father-in-law Richard Broussard. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; Lily Mae LeBlanc and step-father Charles LeBlanc, his father; Ernest Guidry, brother; Ernie Guidry, his mother-in-law; Thelma Hebert Broussard and sister-in-law; Matsy Guidry.
