Gayle Joseph Sellers

Abbeville—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2024  at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Gayle Joseph Sellers, 90, who died Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Woodbriar Southern Style Assisted Living.  He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Nicholas DuPre' officiating the services.

Mr. Gayle was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.  He enjoyed camping and RVing with family and friends.  He loved traveling and spending time in Holly Beach back in the days.

Gayle was known for his pranks and jokes.  He loved playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They have fond memories of  him playing barbershop with them.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Evelyn LeMaire Sellers; son, Kevin Sellers of Youngsville; daughter, Donna Sellers of Denham Springs; two grandchildren, Jessica Impastato, and Kalynn Impastato Bell and husband Devin; two great grandchildren, Andrew Bell, and Annalynn Bell; and sister, Yvette Landry and husband John of Kaplan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel Sellers and the former Hilda Rogers; sister, Camille Sellers Vidos; and two brothers, Roger Sellers, and Emmet Sellers.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 300 Pere Megret St., Abbeville on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 10:00 AM until  time of services. A rosary being prayed at 11:15 AM.

The family expresses special thanks and gratitude to his devoted sitters and Woodbriar Southern Style Assisted Living.    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the contributions be made in Mr. Gayle’s name to Vermilion Catholic High School, 425 Park Ave., Abbeville, LA 70510.
