Gerald Mire

Kaplan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Gerald Mire, 82, who died Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at West Jefferson Medical Center.  He will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Timmy Mire, Shawn Fernandez, Joshua Arwood, Aaron Arwood, Nick Miller and Josh Arwood.

He is survived by his sons, Elden C. Mire of Belle Chasse, Christopher G. Mire of Belle Chasse, Donny M. Mire of Belle Chasse and Timothy J. Mire of Belle Chasse; his daughters, Tammy Mire of Belle Chasse, Marilyn M. Johnson and her husband, William of Wiggins, MS, Wendy M. Granier and her husband, Rene of Houma and Nancy Mire and her husband, Randy of Belle Chasse; eight grand-children; 17 great grandchildren; four godchildren, Leslie D. Mire, Renee Rodrigue Bourgeois, DeWanna Bourque, Shirley Mire Bourque;  one brother, Marion D. Mire of Kaplan; one sister, Shirley M. Bourque and her husband, Donald of Kaplan; two brothers-in-law, Ira Joseph Rodrigue and his wife, Larlene of Cameron and Davis Rodrigue and his wife, Roxanne of Delcambre; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Kathleen Rodrigue Mire; his parents, Elton Mire and the former Edmay Hardy; one daughter, Susan F. Mire; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Blanc Mire and Mary Elizabeth Rodrigue; three brothers-in-law, John Philip Rodrigue, Jeffery J. Rodrigue and Barry Rodrigue; his grandparents, Theonice and Olite Mire and Clerphe and Edolie Hardy; and his parents-in-law, George and Euna Mae Rodrigue.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Saturday, August 28, 2021 from 9:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 12:45 PM.
