Gertie R. Morvant

Kaplan—Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery honoring the life of Gertie R. Morvant, 92, who died Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Ochsner Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital.  She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery with Reverend Stephen Sahayaraj Irudayasamy officiating the services.

She is survived by her son, Stan Morvant and his wife, Donna; two grandchildren, Jacob Morvant and his wife, Crystal and Niki Cockrell and her husband, Jeff; five great grandchildren, Drake Morvant and his wife, Meghan, Lauren Richardson and her husband, Bailey, Zachary Morvant, Avery Cockrell and Lauren Cockrell; and one great-great granddaughter, Kennedy Morvant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lennis Morvant; her parents, Oday Racca and the former Edia Duhon and 10 brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank all the kind people of Kaplan who would wave or horn when passing her house, or often stopped by to admire her flowers. They would also like to thank the caregivers at Gueydan Guest Home and Ochsner Abrom Kaplan Memorial Hospital.
