Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April  6, 2021 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Hattie A. Reese, 85, who died Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Gueydan Memorial Guest Home.  She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Jason Vidrine officiating the services.

She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Abshire and her husband, Howard of Gueydan and Ramona "Fee" Reese of Gueydan; her  grandchildren, Rachel Reese, Julie Nelson, Joey Reese, Vashti Pope, Wyte Reese, Chris Abshire, Nadine Lepretre, Jodie Mayer, Heath Abshire and Caitlyn Delhomme; her 17 great grandchildren; her three great-great grandchildren; and her sister, Audrey Pego of Sulphur.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon "Chalk" Reese; her son, Dennis Reese; her parents, Nolan Abshire and former Augusta Badon; her brothers, Curtis Abshire, Joseph Hebert and Wallace "Black" Abshire; her sisters, Hazel Hardy and Mattie Weekly; and one great grandson, Gavin Overley.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Monday, April  5, 2021 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Tuesday, April  6, 2021 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 10:45 AM.
