Hilda H. Sonnier

Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Hilda Hebert Sonnier, 80, who died Friday, February 16, 2024 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services.

Hilda gave birth to three children but mothered many as her own. She is survived by two sons, Anthony Sonnier and his wife, Mary of Gueydan and Michael Sonnier and his wife, Cindy of Kaplan; one daughter, Angela Breaux of Gueydan; five grandchildren, Amanda B. Mouton and her husband, Sonny of Morse, Joseph Breaux and his wife, Tiffany of Gueydan, Anthony “T-Boug” Sonnier, Jr. and his wife, Libby of Kaplan, Charles Breaux, Jr. of Gueydan and Scott Sonnier and his wife, Kiley of Gueydan; 10 great grandchildren, Zoé, Noah, Charli Claire, Balyn, Landyn, Logan, Maeline, Kora, Slade and Paisley; one sister, Deanna H. Broussard of Gueydan; and one brother, Ernest “Bozo” Hebert, Jr. of Gueydan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Carl Sonnier; one son-in-law, Charles Breaux, Sr.; her parents, Ernest Hebert and the former Lucille Hilda Harrington; one sister, Lavonne Breaux and her husband, Huland and their daughter, Rachel Breaux; and one brother-in-law, Preston Broussard, Jr. and his son, PJ Broussard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 9:00PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Saturday, February 17, 2024 from 8:00 AM until 12:45 PM when the procession departs for the church.
