Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Hilda Rita Sweezy Howard, 80, who died Friday, August 16, 2024, at Abbeville General Hospital. She will be laid to rest at LeBlanc Community Cemetery with Deacon William Vincent officiating the services.

She is survived by her son, James C. Howard, Jr. (Donna) of Abbeville, LA; daughter, Jacqueline C. Hebert (Christopher) of Erath, LA; her grandchildren, Jessica E. Rodefer, Kevin J. Howard (Victoria) of Kaplan, La., Krystal F. Boutin (Blake) of Church Point, La., and Victoria L. Savoy (Chad) of Erath, La.; her great grandchildren, JoLee E. Langton (Ambrose Thompson) of North Dakota, Emily E. Kincade (Michael) of Arkansas, Devin Rodefer of Erath, La., Jabian L. Savoy, Alexis P. Savoy, Cameron J. Savoy of Erath, La., Tucker J. Tauzin of Cecilia, La., Josie M. Boutin of Church Point, La., Leah Darby, Sierra Darby, and Lasha Darby of Kaplan, La.; and her great-great grandchildren Cyer and Westyn Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. “J.C.” Howard, Sr.; parents, John Joseph Sweezy, Sr. and the former Eva Borel; daughter Cindy A. Howard; and grandson Leevon J. Howard.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Sunday, August 18, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of service with a rosary being prayed at 2:00 PM.
