Abbeville—Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville honoring the life of Horace Butler, 84, who died Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Baton Rouge General Bluebonnet Campus. He will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery with Brother Chris Fuselier officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Chad Savoy, James Howard, Blake Boutin, Jack Beaugh, Aaron Mire and Heath Meaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Tucker Tauzin, Jabian Savoy, Cameron Savoy, Eric Tauzin, Alexis Savoy and Josie Boutin.
Horace proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic for ConocoPhillips until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed passing a good time with friends. Horace will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loretta Eads Butler; one son, Charles Butler; one daughter, Donna Howard and her husband James; grandchildren, Krystal Boutin (Blake), Victoria Savoy (Chad) and Kristi Koch (Nick); eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Lee and Maude White Butler; grandson, LeeVon Joshua Howard; six brothers; three sisters; and daughter-in-law, Peggy Butler.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM; Saturday, December 31, 2022, from 8:30 AM until time of services.
