Hurbie Joseph Meaux

Kaplan—Hurbie Joseph Meaux, born January 17, 1929, a resident and native of Kaplan, La passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many and he will be greatly missed.
He proudly served our country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952. He retired from Freeport Mcmoran in 1985 after 32 years of service.

He had a passion for photography, listening and dancing to French Cajun music, and spending quality time with his family and friends. His greatest joy of all was serving Jesus Christ and his Christian Catholic faith. He was a simple and selfless man who was best known for his unwavering faith.

He is survived by his daughter, Geralyn A. Meaux of Kaplan, LA;
two sons, Edward J. Meaux and wife, Gina of Arnaudville, LA; Timothy J. Meaux and wife, Paula of Prairieville, LA; one granddaughter, he raised as his own, Briana M. Langlois and husband, Christopher of Baton Rouge, LA; one grandson Branden Lundy; three great grandchildren, Hannah, Braxton, and Chloe; one stepdaughter, Becky Conley and husband, Kimble of Kaplan; two stepsons, Mark Breaux and wife, Annette of Kaplan and Scott Breaux and fiancée, Lynn Hebert of Kaplan. In addition, he was loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margie Sonnier Meaux; his parents, Ovey Meaux and Lula Bourque Meaux; three brothers, Wilfred Meaux, Dallas Meaux, and Norris Meaux; and two stepsons, Rickey Breaux and Randy Breaux.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. He will be laid to rest at Mire Cemetery with Reverend Mark Miley officiating the services.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Ave., on Saturday, July 4, 2020 from 9:30 AM until the procession departs for the church at 12:45 PM with a rosary being prayed at 10:30 AM.
