Irene Simon

Gueydan—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Irene Plaisance Simon, 94, who died Monday, April 19, 2021 at her residence. She will be laid to rest at Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Corey Campeaux officiating the services.

She is survived by her son, Callen Simon and his wife, Kathy of Gueydan; four daughters, Cornith Simon of Gueydan, Fannie Broussard of Gueydan, Claudette Price of Gueydan and Jenny Blanchard and her husband, Brian of Huntsville, AL; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; one sister, Viola Vondenstein of Gueydan; and one brother, Ludring Plaisance of Gueydan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Cleobule J. Simon; one son, Clifton Simon; two grandsons, Curtis Simon and Stacy Broussard, Jr.; one granddaughter, Amy Simon; her parents, Hypolite Plaisance and the former Ada Lege; five brothers; one sister; and one son-in-law, Stacy Broussard, Sr.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Gueydan, 311 Fourth St., on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 8:00 AM until the procession departs for the church at 11:15 AM.
