James "Jimmy" Rodney Richard, Jr.

December 14, 1953 — August 5, 2018

Abbeville—A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at an 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of James Rodney Richard Jr., 64, who died Sunday, August 5, 2018 at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Louis Richard officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Joe Crane, Jude Duhon, Bubba Broussard, Andrew Richard, Jordan Schexnayder and Christian Richard.

Jimmy’s passions were the rice business, hunting, fishing and cooking for friends and family. He cherished his granddaughters and loved entertaining his friends and family.

Jimmy was a kind, forgiving and understanding man who will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy C. Richard; son, Andrew James Richard of Abbeville; daughter, Amelia Richard Schexnayder and her husband, Jordan of Arnaudville; three granddaughters, Madison Claire Schexnayder, Reese Jordan Schexnayder and Lola Grace Richard; mother, Velma Frederick Richard; brother, Jude Richard and his wife, Terrie of Kaplan; and sister, Mary Agnes Richard of Lake Charles.

He was preceded in death by his father, J. Rodney Richard, Sr.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles St., on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM; Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 8:00 AM until 10:45 AM when the procession will depart for the church.
